The First Step In Preparation: Appreciating
The Risk
According to the American Cancer Society, over one million
people get cancer each year. Approximately one out of
every three American women will have some type of cancer
at some point during their lifetime. Anyone can get
cancer at any age; however, about 77% of all cancers
are diagnosed in people age of 55 and older.
Stephanie Starks HOPE Foundation Women’s Cancer
National Initiative Fund is designed to empower women
nationwide with the knowledge they need to save their
lives. To alert women of their risk of cancer, educate
them on cancer, and provide and direct them to effective
approaches to the early diagnosis, treatment and prevention
of all women’s cancers.
Today, millions of people are living with cancer or
have been cured of the disease. The sooner a cancer
is found and the sooner treatment begins, the better
a patient's chances are of survival. That's why early
detection of cancer is such an important weapon in the
fight against cancer.
Stephanie Starks HOPE Foundation is committed to saving
lives by raising awareness and funds for the millions
of women and their families at risk for or who are fighting
cancer. Our goal is to inform as many women as we possibly
can and to advance leading-edge science by supporting
the efforts of the nation's foremost investigators and
advocates of women's cancer research.
